Fairmead School is a special school for pupils who all have a Statement of Special Educational Needs or an Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP). Pupils and young people who attend the school have Moderate Learning Difficulties (MLD) or Autistic Spectrum Disorder (ASD). As part of the EHCP process you will also be invited, with your child, to visit the school where you will be given a tour of the site and facilities by our Inclusion Manager. You will meet the Headteacher and also have the opportunity to meet pupils, senior leaders and key staff and ask any questions you may have about the provision. Parents and carers are entitled to visit schools within their local area, pleased seek advice from the Local Authority on schools within South Somerset. Prior to entry into the school, we will liaise with staff support from your child’s mainstream school, as well as professionals who have contributed to your child’s statement. This will enable us to gain essential information that allows us to plan with you a smooth transition into the school. We will also develop a pen portrait of your child to share with key staff who will be working with your child.
