Visual artist Jo Cassidy brought paper, inks and lots of fun to Fairmead last week
Sixth-formers were the first to attend the art workshop aimed at producing a collaborative piece of art. Once completed, the work will be displayed at the Octagon Theatre in Yeovil to complement the ‘Strike a Chord’ music project we reported on last week. Key Stage 3 students finished off the work begun by the sixth-formers during the second half of the day-long workshop.
The groups used bleeding tissue paper to create colourful patterns on paper, and they used paper folding techniques to achieve 3D effects. The end result was colourful model dragons! The 3D models and musical composition created last week was inspired by the poem ‘The Dragon Who Ate Our School’. It will be interesting to see how poetry, music and visual art combine when it is showcased at a later date at the Octagon Theatre.
