For the fifth year running our choir hit the high notes for our annual Sing Around The Christmas Tree event, which pulled in record audiences last Wednesday.
Senior LSA and long-standing member of the Fairmead Choir Sian Jinks, reported that the choir ‘sang to a packed hall and there was standing room only!’ In fact, extra chairs and tables had to be brought in, but luckily Mrs Jinks had made sure there was no shortage of mulled wine and apple juice.
Mrs Jinks said: ‘Oh yes the mulled wine was very popular, as was the mince pies and lovely cakes we had for refreshments’.
Another tradition is the Christmas Hamper Raffle, which Jacqui Munn and school governor Mandy Purchase make up out of staff and student donations. The raffle is always drawn at the end of the evening following the singing of 12 carols, some traditional and some modern.
Mrs Jinks said: ‘It was a lovely festive evening and the singing was delightful’.
The Fairmead Choir Roadshow has also been out and about delivering public performances at a number of locations in Yeovil, such as The Courtyard Cafe, Palmer’s Garden Centre and Yarlington.
Sadly this will be Assistant Head Teacher and Choirmaster Alison Taylor’s last year of leading the singers, as she will be leaving at the end of term to live and teach abroad.
The Roadshow will continue Wednesday and Thursday, so good luck to all our singers and well done!
