Fairmead Scores Top Sport Award!

Fairmead has won a SASP award for ‘Inclusive School of the Season 2015/2016’, proving that where competitive sports are concerned, our school has really raised its game.

This fantastic Somerset Activities and Sports Partnership award is down to the on-going commitment and drive of HLTA David Dummackin and PE coordinator Nadine Collard, who are on a mission to get our students involved in sports tournaments in the wider Somerset community.

Mrs Collard applied to the FA to get funding for 10 weeks of professional football coaching and received a grant of £450. This cash injection meant that we could pay Mr Dummackin to coach our students after school, as he is a qualified coach who coaches Yeovil Town Football Club’s Under 14 Girls.

Mr Dummackin ran his football coaching sessions after school every Friday for 20 weeks, which led to Fairmead’s footballers taking part in two tournaments this year. Mr Dummackin and Mrs Collard were presented with an award for Fairmead at a special ceremony held at Taunton Cricket Club.
