Students from across all the key stages were captivated when Somerset Film visited the school and turned our assembly hall into real life TV studio.Somerset Film is a registered charity that empowers individuals and communities through the use of digital technology. They provide equipment, expertise and activities to increase creativity, develop transferable skills, nurture local talent, raise aspirations and help individuals and communities to have a voice.
Our students were given the opportunity to sit in front of the green screen and read the news from the auto cue, be shown how to do camera work, use sound equipment and see how a TV set is created.
Some students volunteered for a specialist role, but even for those of us watching events unfold live from the audience or from the screen monitors, it was an interesting and enjoyable behind-the-scenes look at TV broadcasting that most have us will not have had the opportunity to experience before. Well done to teacher Amy Huskisson who arranged for Somerset Film to spend the day with us.
