The new Autumn term may have just begun but we can’t not mention the massive success of our Summer Fayre Last term.
We had stalls selling plants grown from seedlings by our students in our school greenhouse, fresh fruit and vegetables grown on the school allotment, cakes and biscuits made by our students in their cookery lessons, and ornaments and gifts made in Craft Design and Technology by our students.
There were lots of fun games and challenges to have a go at, such as water gun squirting at targets, football goal scoring, toss the bean bag and skittles. Everyone particularly loved the pony rides courtesy of a riding school in East Coker that tutors some of our students in horse riding, horse care and stable management.
We were very lucky to have a bouncy castle and karaoke machine to keep the kids entertained while parents were free to browse and chat. Our outside cafe under the canopy was a great success with parents needing refreshment and somewhere shady to sit down and enjoy some singing from the school choir.
It was an afternoon full of good old-fashioned fun with the added bonus that we raised the grand total of £868 for school funds, which will help to provide enriching experiences and learning resources for our students. Thanks to everybody who supported the event.
