The school leavers of 2016 enjoyed a day trip to Minehead beach and pier to celebrate finishing Year 11.
A day of sunshine, sea and sandwiches was enjoyed by all as they made the most of their last school trip together as a year group and tutor group.
However, it was not really the end, as all but two of them have now joined the Sixth Form at Fairmead and been integrated into learning groups with current sixth formers from two previous years’ intakes.
Last week Fairmead School hosted a special leavers’ assembly for parents and carers to celebrate their young people’s achievements as their time as school pupils came to an end.
Headteacher Mrs Diana Denman said in her address: ‘As you all know, our students start here at different times having come from different schools, but they all finish the same’.
There were cheers all round as each student came to the front of the assembly to accept their certificates and awards from school governor Hilary Pallister.
Afterwards there was tea and cakes made by our students, and the chance for parents to mingle with the other parents and staff.
One of our former Year 11’s will start a plumbing course at Yeovil College in September and another is joining The Hub.
