Our talented school choir sang their hearts out at the annual Sing Around the Christmas Tree musical event this week.
Parents were given percussion instruments and encouraged to get involved with the music, ably led on piano by Assistant Headteacher Alison Taylor. Alison has spent weeks rehearsing the students to sing an eclectic mix of traditional carols and modern festive pop tunes, and all that fine tuning resulted in a wonderfully accomplished performance on the big night.
HLTA Jacqui Munn sings in the choir and also organises the Christmas hampers given away as raffle prizes, along with various selection boxes. Jacqui also teaches cookery at Fairmead, thus she ensured that there were plenty of mince pies to accompany the mulled wine, teas and coffees on offer for refreshments.
Jacqui said: ‘A parent said to me how proud she was of her daughter who has come such a long way since she started coming to this school. She said it just made her want to cry. It was lovely to see staff, former students and so many proud parents there’.
