It has been a hugely busy summer term so far with highlights including the Class of 2017 Prom and the Duke of Edinburgh Expedition …and there is still more to come.
The Prom was a stunning event as students and staff donned their gladrags for a gangster-style Bugsy Malone themed evening, complete with classic cars, a black and gold decorated hall, live DJ, canapes and mocktails and a photo booth.
The idea for the prom came from LSA Nadia Uddin, who proved to be a genius events organiser and whose father donated all the food for the Indian buffet. There were corsages on arrival for all the young ladies and gift bags to take home for everyone.
Senior LSA Sian Jinks said: “It was a fabulous event and our students all looked so lovely. We had a hairdresser in school before the prom to style hair and staff stayed late to do nails and make up”.
The Duke of Edinburgh team left school 9.30am Friday morning and started walking at 10.45 am. Both teams arrived at Bagwell Farm camp site between 5pm and 6pm on Friday evening. The route for the expedition took in Fleet, Hardys Monument and Portesham and one walking group walked 15 km a day and the other group walked 4.5 km a day.
Expedition Leader Sharon Chorley said: “The students all worked together to set up camp and cook tea after day one of their walk. The folllowing morning they had to pack up camp before setting off for second day of walking. We returned to school 4.15 on Saturday”.
