Key Stage 3 students had a brilliant time at a table cricket tournament held at Somerset County Cricket Club in Taunton last week.
Six students were selected by P.E Coordinator Dan Pittard for the half day tournament, which consisted of four cricket tables with lots of matches going on at once.
LSA Amanda Gager, who supported students on the trip said: ‘It all went very smoothly and it was a brilliant location. Two of the students were really nervous and very nearly didn’t do it, but in the end they did do it, were very successful, and absolutely enjoyed themselves’.
Amanda explained that the students actually got to play inside the cricket club hall where they have nets set up to practice batting skills.
The final result was Fairmead won two and lost two and came fifth out of the nine special schools. It was pretty good considering the students were new to the game.
As well as a fun day out, our students received certificates and Somerset Cricket Club flags presented by a member of the team.
