Touring Theatre Company Tackles Plastic Pollution – FAIRMEAD SCHOOL

Touring Theatre Company Tackles Plastic Pollution

A captivating play about the perils facing marine life gave staff and students pause for thought.

The MakeShift Ensemble theatre group brought ‘I am Turtle’, a play written and performed in verse, to Fairmead School recently.

Students loved the mixture of verse, tragi-comedy, story-telling and songs, which succeeded in delivering a difficult and timely message about the destruction of our marine ecology.

‘Just how old are you Great Uncle Archie?”

“As old as time and a bit before then”

“….like eight in the morning?”

“More like half past ten”

‘Discover the ancient song of the Sea Turtles as they guide us on a journey through ship wrecks and sea shells, to sing their song anew when the future of their underwater world is in peril.

The celebrated storytellers from The Makeshift Ensemble, with support from Norwich Puppet Theatre roll out a new yarn to enchant listeners young and old (and in between) . Based on the lyrical children’s book ‘Turtle’s Song’ by Alan Brown, I am Turtle is and enthralling delve into the great oceans to hear Turtle’s story and what we can do to take care of their home.’ (The MakeShift Ensemble).

Fairmead has recently signed up to become an eco school, following the success of our Climate Awareness Day. We have completed an eco audit of the school and identified ways in which we can improve our eco credentials.
